Goals

  • 1. The Italian NSC of Science on Stage Europe (SoSEu) calls the presentation of a project on the teaching of experimental sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, etc.), maths and technology. The project must have the characteristics of originality and attractiveness and effectiveness of teaching.
  • 2. The project can cover different aspects of teaching science (learning, design and testing of paths and/or teaching materials, teaching innovation, activity in connection with everyday experience, experiments also offered in the form of game or entertainment, contribution of new information technology applied for teaching science).
  • 3. Main topics of Science on Stage 2013 are: inquiry-based-learning (IBL), communications technologies, science in primary school and in preschool, collaborations between schools and between teachers.
  • 4. The presentation of projects will permit the selection of Italian delegates attending the final event of SoSEu (Slubice, Poland, April 25th - April 28th 2013).

Participation rules

  • 5. The delegates will be chosen only among in-service Italian teachers, researchers or Experts in education and communication that proves their experience by a curriculum.
  • 6. The project can be submitted by a group of teachers but it is necessary to indiacate only one contact person.
  • 7. The presentation of the project must contain:
    • I. the title of the project, the service status and the teaching field of the authors;
    • II. the reference sector related to Science on Stage (fair, on-stage presentation, show, workshop, masterclass);
    • III. the educational and cultural goals;
    • IV. the innovative aspects;
    • V. a detailed description of the exhibit (only for projects for fair presentation)
    • VI. the collaborations and their roles in the work;
    • VII. the name of the person that will present the project at the final event (if selected). The presentation should be accompanied by photographs or, preferably, by CD or DVD in order to permit a detailed evaluation of the project.
    It is required the knowledge of English, that is the official language of the European event. This knowledge allows to take advantage of all opportunities offered by the program of this event. The knowledge of English is very important for workshops and masterclasses since in these events there is a high level of interaction between the delegate and the participants.It is required a summary presentation in English.
  • 8. Participants must submit the project by 2013 September 10. The project must be sent by email to: nsc@science-on-stage.it. CD/DVD must be sent to

  • 10. The projects are selected at the sole discretion of the NSC. It will select 12 delegates for fair. About the other types of projects, the NSC will notify to the International Committee the best works. Anyway the final selection will be performed by the International Committee. The following criteria will be used:
    • the novelety of the proposal, related to teaching science;
    • the accuracy and depth of scientific content;
    • the originality and effectiveness of communication;
    • the multidisciplinarity;
    • the usability in many school areas.
    According to these criteria the presentation by a teacher who has not participated in past editions of Science on Stage has priority in case of equity. A balanced composition of the delegation (in terms of topics and school ranking) is also taken into account.

Economic

  • 11. The realization of the project must be payed by authors. They are invited to involve their schools.
  • 11. For each project selected, the NSC will communicate mode of participation at the national event.
  • 12. Subsistence expenses for participation in the final event in Slubice will be borne by European organizers only for selected delegates from NSC. Travel expenses will be borne by the national sponsors of the project.

Privacy policy

  • 13. All the participants, according to the Italian law D.l.vo 196/03, note and allows that their personal details will be used and processed by the NSC only for the selection procedure. They will not be communicated to third parties.
